We welcome enquiries from couples wishing to be married in our parish*.

Marriage is a sign of unity and loyalty; it enriches society and strengthens community.  We at St George & St Paul's want to bless people making this life-enhancing choice.

Our wedding venue, St Paul’s church, offers a traditional layout with disability-access, and the possibility of a good organ, and having the bells rung; the service can accommodate some personal preferences.

We will offer continuing support – before, during and after your wedding – and this will hopefully be part of a mutually rewarding longer-term relationship with our church.

Bearing in mind the logistics, including cost, it is worth planning a year or so ahead. Also, by coming along on any Sunday to our services, you will get to know us as a church. Then you will need to contact the Office and we will send a wedding pack out to you and arrange for a member of our clergy to guide you through the process.

If you'd like to read more online about what is involved in a church wedding, visit This site also offers brilliant resources that could help you plan your wedding from start to finish, including a 'ceremony planner' with popular hymns and readings to choose for your wedding service.

* You will need a ‘qualifying connection’. Click here for details.
If your wedding is to be in another church but you live in this parish, you will need by law to have your Banns read here. Again, please contact the Office three months before your wedding; a statutory fee will be charged for this.
